Project Summary
Developed as an extension of the St. John’s University School of Law site,
the Law Library website features a user centric design with links to
Library information and services as well as Student and Faculty resources.
The clean, intuitive design allows easy identification of destinations.
A unique feature of this site is a "quick search: catalogue"
function on the home page that is linked to the ©Web OPAC search engine
from Innovative Interfaces Inc. This feature gives instant access to the
Library catalogue system which has been customized by The Next Page to
have the same look and feel as the rest of the site. This customization,
which extends beyond cosmetics, adds links and navigational features not
found in the original ©Web OPAC design.
Site design collaboration between The Next Page, faculty and
administration was facilitated through the use of the Microsoft Share Point
Team Services Portal, a secured Web-based communication tool that yielded
a high level of feedback during development. This process ensured an end
product with no surprises that met all design criteria.
Training for The Next Page original application as well as the ©Web
OPAC software was an integral part of the implementation process. This
included Innovative’s proprietary file transfer utility (FTS), management
and modification of site parameters through Innovative’s custom wwwoptions
file and knowledge transfer of basic file structures and layouts to the
non-technical staff that will be administering the site.
