"This application has been specifically designed to accomodate
the many nuances of foreclosure practice. The program has many unique
features that will aid any firm in the timely and accurate movement of
files, production of documents and my personal favorite, creation of
customized status reports. The system can be accessed from the web but has
various levels of security so as to prevent unauthorized entry.

Project Summary
For nearly 15 years the Law Offices of Thomas E. Wynne, a legal firm that processes residential and commercial property foreclosure actions for banks and other financial institutions, had used a DOS-based system to manage their cases.
In 1999 it became apparent that this system was not Y2K compliant and, as the original firm that developed this software was no longer in business, a replacement product would need to be developed.
The opportunity to vastly expand the capabilities and the range of access and control of the new system, over the features of the old software, was immediately obvious. In preparation of an in-depth business process flow analysis and documentation of the business goals, TNP mapped out extensive specifications from which to design a radical new system. The objective was to provide attorneys and paralegals with a completely automated and interactive case tracking system, reporting mechanism and document management system that could be securely administered in-house or remotely from a web browser. The end result would generate complex legal documents merged with data that was entered through an internet-enabled application.
Legal documents generated from the end-user case tracking system are retrieved (downloaded) for viewing and editing locally in the browser, using the Microsoft Word installed on that station. If the user downloads data to a station (internal or remote) that does not have Microsoft Word installed, the document is instructed to port its output to the browser in HTML. In both cases, a detailed document tracking and management system for each document produced is provided for access (remotely or in-house) with the help of Microsoft Exchange Server's public folder structure. A custom Image Upload Manager was developed to give users the ability to attach and associate multiple images to a particular patient record. A 3rd party software tool from Software Artisans (SAFileUp) manages multiple uploads in transaction mode along with custom DHTML programming for upload validation routines.
Extranet business-to-business components are provided as part of the expanded control features of this system that could enable a law firm's clients (financial institutions) to securely access their respective cases via the Internet. This would all ready access to current status, activity and reports, thus freeing up the law firm's staff from a great deal of client support services to focus on their own case load. TNP also introduced and programmed sign-up activity workflow to guide system users through a variety of procedures based on specific internal flags.
TNP developed the complete web-enabled solution which is very form-intensive and transactional by it’s nature. A multitude of development tools that span most of Microsoft technologies was used to create the final product.
- VBscript on the client to handle DHTML positioning, user interaction, business rules validation and XML data island processing.
- Active Server Pages with VBScript and extensive SQL Server stored procedures and triggers to handle the core backend business logic and to provide the interface and data for Crystal Web Reports.
- Visual Basic development of COM components and executables to provide a document management and workflow environment utilizing ADO, CDO programming for Exchange Server and manipulation of the Microsoft object model for MS Word.
